So Friday was the opening ceremony for Goonswood here in Chicago!
Since I was hosting I wanted to get there a little early so I could meet everyone and whatnot.
I walked in and Goons and his (Girlfriend?) were working on hanging up tons of small pieces for a collage that was for one wall at the opening. Instead of framing them, Goons (Conrad) wanted to hang them with visable blue painters tape. I thought that was really representative of his style. It definitely made the guests feel more comfortable too, in a way. It was almost arts and crafts, and I like that.
I ended up meeting another Chicago street artist that I didn't expect to be there early on (Don't Fret), but it turns out he was working the open bar! So that was kind of cool. Haha.
Anyway, the whole show was a success! A lot of people showed up, and a lot of pieces sold! I kept checking back on a couple of pieces that I wanted to make sure they didnt sell, but they pretty much sold within minutes. : / :)
The night was such a good experience. I got to meet a lot of new people, I chatted with old friends I haven't seen in a while and just floated around looking at great art. These kind of nights are definitely my favorite kind of nights, I would pretty much trade club/bar nights any time for them.
I hope you enjoy the photo's above, which were all taken by the fabulous Vanessa Lilak!
(Thank you again for that, boo. ;) )
